Rosenberg & Co. Opens Cubist Exhibition with Works Spanning a Century

August 18, 2016 - Rosenberg & Co. is pleased to present Cubist Perspectives, a historical group exhibition offering a selective survey of Cubism from twentieth-century Paris to today.
The exhibition is an invitation for visitors to follow the development of Cubism over the past century. Works by artists such as Serge Férat, Auguste Herbin, Jean Metzinger, and Georges Valmier allow viewers to witness Cubism's birth in Paris at the turn of the twentieth-century. Crossing the Atlantic, visitors are summoned to the artist colony of Provincetown, Massachusetts, where the artists Karl Knaths, Blanche Lazzell, and Kenneth Stubbs kept the Cubist aesthetic alive. Finally, works by Marcin Dudek, Oleg Kudryashov, and Tom John bring the visitors back to the twenty-first century and demonstrate how contemporary artists continue to find inspiration in their Cubist predecessors.
By organizing a Cubist show, Rosenberg & Co. continues the legacy of Léonce Rosenberg who, through exhibitions at his Paris gallery, Galerie de l'Effort Moderne, brought Cubism to the preeminent position it now holds. And by including contemporary artists working in the Cubist aesthetic, Rosenberg & Co. affirms our commitment to cultivating relationships with contemporary artists, while also demonstrating that Cubism is still relevant to our present moment.
An illustrated catalogue accompanies the exhibition.
